Rodeo teaches kids safety tips for riding a bicycle
School's almost out and your child may be riding a bike this summer. Attend the Bike Rodeo at the Alternative Transportation Expo on June 2 from 7:00-9:00pm in the 100 block of E. Front Street in downtown Traverse City and learn some bike safety rules-of-the-road with your child... just in time for summer vacation.
The Bike Rodeo teaches kids (and parents) how to make hand signals, complete a shoulder check and the importance of stopping at stop signs. There will be a mini street course set up with cones and stop signs. A tricycle course will also be set up, so don't be afraid to bring your young kids as well! The Bike Rodeo includes bike helmet fittings, a bike inspection station and a bike registration table. Please bring your bikes!
The Bike Rodeo is free of charge and is being coordinated by AAA Michigan, North Shore Safe Kids, Grand Traverse Mom Network, Grand Traverse Woman Magazine, Traverse City Area Public Schools and TART Trails.
The Bike Rodeo is part of TART's Smart Commute Week Alternative Transportation Expo event that promotes alternative transportation and educates area residents of the benefits of transportation options.
