Why are you a member of TART Trails?
We use the trails! We are so lucky to have an active trail community that is working on new trails and maintaining the current ones that it would be irresponsible if we didn't contribute in some way. And, we live on Boardman Lake so we want that trail to circle the lake sooner, not later!
On what trail(s) do you spend most of your time? What’s your favorite trail activity?
Because we live right in town, the east Boardman Lake trail is handy for quick walks or rides, but when we plan to spend a couple hours biking, we head towards Suttons Bay or Acme. We bike.
What do you think non-motorized trails add to our community?
Serenity, a calming effect (particularly Boardman East and towards Suttons Bay). And the trails work for so many ages in a good, safe mix: parents with babes in strollers, seniors having a walk, caregivers pushing a wheelchair, rollerbladers, bikers, people walking their dogs.
What new trail or trail improvement would you like to see added to our area’s trail network?
West side of Boardman Lake. Making it a complete circle will be the best!.....also paving the rest of the Leelanau Trail.
Share a story from the trails with us.
We met on the TART in 2001! We had both made a water stop at one of the fast-food restaurants on the trail and got into the "do you come here often?" conversation. A month later we had our first date, and the rest, as they say, is history.
