Leelanau Harvest Tour

Leelanau Harvest Tour2The Cherry Capital Cycling Club-hosted event is Sunday, September 20, and is an annual bicycle road ride through Leelanau County. Just shy of 1000 riders (families and individuals) participated last year in the event that is a benefit for TART! We will be composting or recycling all the waste generated at the food stops and lunch. We’re also “going local” with our food offerings! Each food stop is on a lakefront park with a menu that includes specialties from area merchants and restaurants. Cherry Republic “Boomchunka” cookies will be served along with locally made Naturally Nutty peanut butter, Food For Thought jams, Bread from Pleasanton Brick Oven Bakery, vegetarian chili from Oryana, roasted vegetable soup from the Eatspot in Northport and pie from Sara Lee. Pre-registered riders will also enjoy a pasta and salad meal after the ride which is included in the registration fee. Moomer’s Ice Cream has created a special flavor “LHT Cycledelic” which is a swirl of peach, blueberry and vanilla ice creams. Straightforward Bluegrass will provide entertainment at the school during lunch. What more can you ask for?

The event starts and ends at Glen Lake Schools. Route options cover 15, 25, 45, 67 or 100 miles throughout beautiful (and hilly) Leelanau County. Cyclists may register now for $30 (Aug 29-Sept 11) or for $35 (Sept 12-Sept 20). Families may register for $70 (Aug 29-Sept 12), or $80 (Sept 12-Sept 20). Ride applications may be obtained any of the Traverse City area bike stores or at the TART Trails office. More information can be obtained at www.leelanauharvesttour.org or call us at (231) 941-4300 for questions.
