“Wayne Hill†was created to encompass the emotional and physical excitement experienced while enjoying the natural beauty of the Grand Traverse outdoor environment. The design was laid out by local sculptor TJ Carroll over 2 years ago as a miniature version only 14 inches long. It took 2 years to locate the correct materials to build the full size piece precisely to the original design. TJC Design Studio hand constructed the 1000 pound, 14 foot long by 12 foot high piece by utilizing recycled materials and subsequently coated the sculpture in gloss black industrial enamel paint. The owners of TJC Design Studio are bicyclists and appreciate all that TART brings to the community and admire their support of local artists. TJC will donate 20% towards the purchase of the sculpture; the additional amount needed to purchase “Wayne Hill†amounts to 7,600 dollars. Wayne Hill can currently be viewed at TJC Design Studio, 1103 S. Union St. in Traverse City.
