TART Trails is seeking nominations for the fifth annual Jim Mudgett Trail Pioneer Award.

Tim Brick won the award in 2007. Nominations are open to anyone who has advocated for building, maintaining and using trails in the Grand Traverse area.

Send submissions in writing to TART Trails, PO Box 252, Traverse City, MI 49685, stating the reasons you believe the person should receive this award. In addition, biographical information is helpful.

Mudgett, who passed away in 2004, was a founding member of the TART Trails Board of Directors, a trail chief on the Leelanau Trail, and a longtime supporter of the Vasa Pathway.

Past award recipients include: Lois Bahle, Tim Brick, George Lombard, Dave Monstrey, Ted Okerstrom and June Thaden.

The award will be presented at the TART Trails’ Octoberfest Dinner on October 2. Deadline for nominations is September 2. For more information, call the TART Trails office at (231) 941-4300.
