It's that time of year again... we are seeking nominations for our annual Jim Mudgett Trail Pioneer Award. Dick Naperala won the award in 2008 for his contributions to the North Country Trail system. Nominations are open to anyone who has advocated for building, maintaining and using trails in the Grand Traverse area.
Send submissions in writing by September 8 to TART Trails, PO Box 252, Traverse City, MI 49685, stating the reasons you believe the person should receive this award. Please be specific and offer a few paragraphs that validate your candidate. In addition, please include any biographical information may be relevant and helpful for the selection committee.
Past award recipients include: Lois Bahle, Tim Brick, George Lombard, Dave Monstrey, Dick Naperala, Ted Okerstrom and June Thaden. The award will be presented at the TART Trails' Octoberfest Dinner on October 8.
Jim Mudgett, who passed away in 2004, was a founding member of the TART Trails Board of Directors, a trail chief on the Leelanau Trail, and a longtime supporter of the Vasa Pathway.
We look forward to reading all of the submissions!
Thanks so much,
Missy
