Ride of Silence slated for May 21
Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation (TART) Trails, Inc. is co-hosting the Ride of Silence with the Cherry Capital Cycling Club on May 21 at 6:30 pm at the Station Espresso Bar. The Ride of Silence is a quiet bike ride in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.
The Traverse City Ride of Silence is one of many similar rides around the world that is happening on May 21. The ride aims to raise cycling awareness during bike safety month to motorists, police, and city officials.
Ride of Silence at a glance:
- May 21, 2008, 6:30 pm
- Start/End: Station Espresso Bar at Woodmere Ave/Eighth Street (near the library)
- Distance: 8 miles
- Route: Downtown city streets
- Speed: 12 miles per hour
- Purpose: Riders will ride to honor those killed or injured while cycling.
