The ever popular Boardman Lake Trail has another connector under construction, with a grade separated crossing of 8th Street. The City of Traverse City is building a connection from the BLT/10th Street connector that will go north to 8th Street and then go under the 8th Street bridge and connect along the river to the Midtown boardwalk.
Kudos to the City of Traverse City for not only getting this project designed and paid for (with TIF funds), but to have the foresight to preserve an easement on this former City Public Works property, and also building the 8th Street bridge decades ago with an underpass for a future trail connection. We understand that one of our founders, Ted Okerstrom, pushed for that underpass long ago.
