Well, well, well... another successful Tour de TART is under our belt. Many thanks to the 486 participants and 75 volunteers! We'll have our work cut out for us to top 2009, and we'll have to dig deep because the 2010 event is the 10th annual event. Feel free to mark your calendars for August 6, 2010 for the next Tour de TART! Anyone interested in serving on the 2010 Tour de TART planning committee, let me know. We have a few openings.
Please watch this short Tour de TART time lapse video that Ken Scott created from 1000's of still images. The vibe of the big party at the end of the ride in Suttons Bay was also documented and can be viewed by perusing TART's Flickr page. If you rode the event and took pictures along the way, we'd love it if you'd email them to us. Please send them to Pam at office@traversetrails.org
Also, we heard that many riders enjoyed the homemade baked goods that were offered up at the Caboose open house (and how 'bout the new paint job?) I guess there were enough compliments regarding Pam Chmielewski's granola cookies and brownies that she sent in the recipes (pasted below). Enjoy!
New in 2009, we hired Bay Area Recycling, to handle the waste at the Suttons Bay end of the ride. All of the material from the event was composted, except for a few plastic water bottles. All together there were 10 bags of compost (40 lbs each), one small bag of plastic water bottles (that was recycled), and one bag of garbage (mostly just the plastic bags we used for the event), and some cardboard. We diverted over 500 lbs of waste from the landfill- or about 1 lb per person. How cool is that?
Kudos to everyone who helped make the 2009 event a huge success!
Have a great weekend,
Missy
