Times are a’changing! Both our newsletter and our website have received a much-needed facelift—just in time for our 10th anniversary. Laurie Schutza and Carl Harlan, students in the visual arts program at NMC, completed the newsletter redesign this spring as a class project.
Working in consultation with TART’s Outreach Committee, Laurie and Carl strived to give the newsletter a fresh new look, while staying true to TART’s values and mission. “This was a wonderful opportunity to put our design skills to good use,” says Laurie Schutza, “NMC has such a great program. Our instructor Caroline Schaefer-Hills has given us a chance to work with real clients and get real world experience, all the while the client gets great quality work.”
Each process is different with every client.” Carl Harlan explains, “No two pieces of work are the same. However, it is always great to be able to be given a challenge that each client offers. TART Trails was so much fun to work with and gave Laurie and myself a great chance to have fun with the staff of TART and give them something that they wanted.”
TART’s website also received a recent overhaul. We had been “getting by” with a site that was built in 2002. However, TART has grown up a lot since then and our story was not getting told very effectively on our old website. Prior to revising the site, we surveyed our members and found that the areas for improvement on our site were maps, trails, calendar of events, news and updated content.
We have revised our trail maps online and also included better printable maps as well. We have revised the home page and tabs to make our website easier to navigate. Please take a look at the new site and let us know what you think!
TART’s site was originally built by Leelanau.com for free 6 years ago. The current redesign was also done by Leelanau.com in which some of their time and services were donated. Thanks guys!
