Carpooling Resources
In the Traverse Bay region:
- If you carpool during Smart Commute Week, you get free parking downtown!
The Northwest Michigan Ride Share Connection's website, NMride.net, connects commuters for ride sharing to work, activities, and more throughout the Traverse Bay region. NMTA Ride Share Connection helps people who have rides to offer connect with people who need a ride (and vice versa)! Read more about the program and sign up for a carpool buddy here.
** NMRide.net is a program of Northwest Michigan Transportation Alliance (NMTA). NMTA is a collaboration of more than 20 human service agencies, non-profits, and local businesses who seek to expand transportation options in Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Benzie counties. The Northwest Michigan Transportation Alliance and Northwest Michigan Council of Governments assume no responsibility for the safety and/or satisfaction of ride sharers.
Carpooling in other regions:
- Washington State's King County offers a Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) Services website. Although the site focuses on resources available in King County, the site has lots of other information for anyone interested in carpooling.
- Another Washington State carpooling resource, RideshareOnline, provides step by step instructions on how to set up your own carpool.
- Trans Canada Carpool is a British Colombia based company that helps you find carpool clubs across Canada. For non-Canadians, the website gives info on carpooling options, the benefits of carpooling, and carpool etiquette.
