Trail Maintenance

Maintenance is performed by many different groups and individuals on the TART Trails system. The groups come from a wide range of sources including schools, churches, businesses, scouting programs and TART organized work bees.

TART also has an Ambassador program where individuals can volunteer as a Trail Maintenance Ambassador. A Trail Maintenance Ambassador can request a specific section of the trail to help maintain. They will check the trail periodically using a checklist developed for their section of the trail to check for maintenance issues/concerns. They will check for trail hazards such as damaged or missing signs, condition of benches, pavement breaks and marking, and bridge conditions. They will also check for "clear vision areas" at all driveway and road crossings. They can also take care of small problems such as downed limbs/debris on the trail and pick up litter. They report any major problems to the TART office. If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador call the TART office @ 941-4300. Maintenance occurs year around however most occurs in the spring, summer and fall.
