Three Mile

The first phase of the Three Mile Trail opened in 2006. The 2-mile long trail goes along Three Mile Road from the State Park beach on US 31 to South Airport Road. The trail was built as part of the Three Mile Road widening project. TART worked with the Grand Traverse County Road Commission on the project.

TART and the Road Commission are currently working on Phase 2, which will most likely happen in 2010. This phase will extend the trail from South Airport Road to Hammond Road. TART plans to work with the schools in the Hammond Road vicinity on Phase 2 funding and on developing trails to connect the school campuses to the Three Mile Trail.
